Two Prayer Movements Make History
This month two historic events will be taking
place, both involving movements focused on prayer. One is a Christian event celebrating what God has done through a charismatic
ministry. Another is an assembly of Muslims in America’s capital, seeking to advance the influence of Islam on this
nation.
For ten years
the International House of Prayer has been open in Kansas City, hosting 24-7 prayer and worship. They have pioneered a new
expression of Christianity, setting a pattern for hundreds of other groups who want to pursue deeper intimacy with Christ
and to carry out spiritual warfare over the globe. Mike Bickle, who was one of the main individuals used to lead the Prophetic
Movement of the 1980’s, will head the commemoration of this anniversary. The landmark celebration will take place on
the 17th through the 20th, and ihop.org will provide live feed of each service.
In Washington
D.C. on the 25th Dur-ul-Islam, a New Jersey mosque, will be hosting an unprecedented gathering of American Muslims
coming together solely for the purpose to pray. The organizers of the event have expressed that their desire is to show the
religious heart of Islam, not just the political ideas often expressed by members of their faith. However, many people still
feel that this event could have negative effects on the spiritual state of the United States, as it will welcome the power
of a foreign god into the country. A number of Christians have marked the date as a day to fast.
Mike Bickle
has often spoken of the false prayer movement which will rise in the last days, pretending to be tolerant yet supporting the
Anti-Christ agenda. One cannot help but see prophetic significance in the close timing between these two meetings.
