Ephesians
6:12 tells us, “our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against...the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly
realms.” In other words, our main enemies in life are not evil people, but the demons controlling them. This is why Second Corinthians 10:4 says, “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through
God to the pulling down of strong holds." Sadly though, some Christians limit their strategies against Satan
to using “carnal” means. They work hard to fight the Devil by changing the minds of those who are bound by him,
yet they do not aggressively confront demonic creatures in pure spiritual combat. The Bible makes it clear though that Christ
gave us authority to attack all the powers of darkness.
In Luke 10:19
the Lord promised, “I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the
enemy; nothing will harm you.” We also read in 1st John 4:4, “greater is He that is in you, than he that is in the world.” So basically, because all us
who have been born-again have the Holy Spirit within our hearts, we do not have to fear any wicked spirit – no matter
how strong it appears. We can actually go on the offense against such demons, and kick them out of the places they are operating.
Like our example – Jesus – we can speak confidently to the devils around us and command them to leave.
Ephesians
3:10 explains, “through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in
the heavenly realms.” It basically says here that God wants His wisdom – which is revealed in the Scriptures –
to be told to the high powers of the spiritual world. Christ wants us to proclaim His will to Satan, in order to keep the
Devil's hold off of our lives. Believers can do this in their prayer times, by verbally quoting God's Word like Jesus did
when He was tempted in Luke 4. Christians can also command demons to quit influencing others around them.
2 Corinthians
10:5 explains, “We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we
take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.” According to prayer-leader Dutch Sheets, this verse was originally
meant to encourage us to intervene on behalf of sinners who are bound by supernatural deception. Yes, God wants us to take
a stand for ourselves when Satan is speaking lies to us, but He also wants us to fight for the freedom of others! 2 Corinthians
4:3-4 makes clear that, “The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light
of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” Therefore, it is our responsibility to tear off the
blinders that are hindering people from having a chance to receive salvation!
If the entire
Church would learn how to use their faith to wage battle against the forces of Hell, many changes would no doubt come to the
whole of society. Christians need to continue evangelizing and reaching out to human souls, but we must also learn to go straight
to the root of problems which are caused by demonic strongholds. If Jesus can do it, anyone walking in His Spirit can as well.
All it takes is boldness!
