Nigerian Pentecostal Makes Newsweek’s World Leaders List

In Newsweek’s January 5 edition, Enoch Adeboye was listed as one of the 50 most influential people in the world. The general overseer of a Pentecostal denomination, Adeboye was the only other minister aside from the Pope listed in the article. Adeboye’s is a respected voice in his homeland of Nigeria, as well as around the globe. Each December several million people attend the Holy Ghost Conference hosted by the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), which is the denomination Adeboye leads. According to christiantoday.com, the RCCG is also the fastest growing church in all of Europe.

I find it fascinating that a Nigerian was selected for this list rather than someone like Rick Warren or Joel Osteen. Even more interesting is the fact that this minister is charismatic, representing the huge growth of the Pentecostal Movement throughout Africa and the Global South. Newsweek referred to the Spirit-filled community as "the biggest, fastest-growing Christian movement since the Reformation." We now have some 500 to 600 million members around the planet, which equates at least one-half of all evangelical believers.

It has been estimated that by 2050 the majority of all Africans will be Christians, and that Pentecostalism will be the dominant expression of Christendom there. Since the Healing Revival of the 1950's and even earlier, charismatic evangelists have often found the "Dark Continent" to be one of the easiest places to reach with their message. Praise be to God, all the hard labor seems to be paying off.

To learn more about Enoch Adeboye and the charismatic church in Africa, check out the following article featured in Charisma and Christian Life: "Nigerian Pentecostal Listed Among World Influencers," by Adrienne S. Gaines. http://charismamag.com/cms/news/archives/1222082.php

Ulf Ekman's Relationship with Rome

Pastor of a Swedish mega-church which hosts regular broadcasts on GOD TV, Ulf Ekman received some negative press this month at Charisma Online. The magazine featured an article sharing the criticisms that some Protestants have voiced about Ekman's relationship with the Catholic Church. Because Ekman has been verbally and financially supportive of Catholic ministries, some are questioning how much he agrees with the theology of these groups concerning the Pope. His stance on the nature of Christ's mother has been brought under scrutiny as well.

I have watched Ulf Ekman many times on televison, and I do not believe that I have ever heard him promote a single Catholic distinctive. I cannot say whether he has grown too supportive of Catholic beliefs, but I am certain that having frequent dialogue with the Roman Chuch is not unhealthy in itself. Of course, Protestants need to be careful not to let Catholics influence them too heavily concerning Mary and the Pope. We can all agree with Ulf though when he says that, “Collaborations, multidenominational gatherings and spiritually warm conversation among leaders are taking place to a degree that has not been seen for decades. I am utterly convinced that this is a move of God, to prepare the church for what is to come.”

Christian Minister Takes Exorcisms to T.V.

On Halloween Eve last month the Sci-Fi Channel started showing footage of a real life deliverance minister casting out demons. With the motto of “DWJD: Do What Jesus Did,” Bob Larson is publically performing exorcisms in a way that some ministers criticize as being too dramatic. Larson responds to the critics by stating that Jesus sometimes ministered to demoniacs in the open, and that it shows people who normally do not see such ministry take place that they too can find God’s freedom.

Larson is an evangelical Christian, and sees his television program (The Real Exorcist) as “an educational tool for the masses, not unlike the televised altar calls of Billy Graham’s crusades.” I have yet to watch his intriguing new program, yet it sounds to me as if Christ’s name is being glorified through it. Larson may be too theatrical in his deliverance tactics, as many Pentecostals have been in the past. It may also be though that true breakthroughs are being reached through the time he spends with people.

The Real Exorcist could potentially display to millions the reality of a God that is more powerful than all forms of spiritual darkness. It seems as if orthodox supernaturalism is increasing in America, giving us the faith for miracles that our brothers already have in nations throughout Africa and the Global South. That is certainly my prayer, at least.

"A Twelfth Report of Revival"

For the past four months revival has been going on in the rural Virginia town of Winchester. Three different churches are involved in this outpouring, and the miracles here have exceeded what many consider normal in the Body of Christ. A large number of people have claimed that God supernaturally gave them gold-fillings, including one man who came to Christ after experiencing this phenomena in a nearby auto-shop. This revival, like many others that have recently been taking place, has direct ties to the Lakeland Healing Outpouring. Several of the leaders in Virginia received ministry from Todd Bentley this past April.

This is the twelfth outbreak of revival that I have heard of this year. Many in the Church are afraid that such events are encouraging mysticism and religious hype, but with the continual reports of new signs and wonders, it seems these revivals are bringing something much more. Pentecostalism is moving beyond the infilling and gifts of the Holy Spirit, to receive all the manifestations of God's glory that are alluded to in the Scriptures. Of course there will be much extremism in the birth of this new movement, but just as we have in the past, God's people will eventually become established in these revelations with greater balance than we started with. We are going through a massive growth spurt, but the growing pains will not last forever.

"Two More Fresh Outpourings"

The past few months have been known as being a season of intense revival, and a great number of "breakouts" have been chronicled here in MILK. Two more outpourings have recently taken place, including one in San Francisco, California and Denver, Colorado. Each of these have been going on for at least two months, and it will be three by the time this story is released.

The San Fransisco revival, dubbed the "Golden Gate Outpouring," is centered in the Promised Land Fellowship, pastored by Michael Brodeur. Michael visited Lakeland, Florida earlier this year and was heavily inspired from the events taking place there. Then after holding a ten day prayer meeting at his church, Michael and his congregation felt that God was leading them to continue meeting nightly. Several people have reported demonic visitations trying to deter them from their involvement in this new movement.

In Denver, Colorado, David and Stephanie Herzog began leading revival last June. The miracles there often include supernatural healings, as well as a wide variety of other signs and wonders.David has led revival before in France, and has a well known ministry that features a television program on GOD TV. He plans to leave the Denver area following the end of the August meetings, but no doubt been has used to start something that will continue for quite some time.

It seems that God is creating a revival culture in our nation, causing the outpouring of His Spirit to be so wide-spread that we can hardly keep up on it. I have heard several prophesies that God was going to send 12 cities a move of His power this year, and I am not sure if more have already received it! It has come to Jena, Lakeland, Dublin, Belfast, Fort Mills, Denver, San Fransisco, Minnesota, Newman, and to the state of Pennsylvania. If we have not yet hit the prophesied mark of twelve, things seem sure to escalate to that level soon.

Apostles Formally Commission Bentley

On the 23rd of last month a group of at least seventeen leaders in the Prophetic Movement came to Florida to formally commission Todd Bentley as an evangelist and revivalist. Among the apostles present were Bill Johnson, Che Ann, and John Arnott, members of the Revival Alliance that formed last March. The purpose of these many leaders convening on stage at the Florida Healing Outpouring was to bless the events that are occurring there, and possibly to offer some credibility to the movement. Some also now consider Bentley to be under authority of these men when it comes to being held accountable for his teachings and behavior.

I do not think it is a coincidence that the God Channel came to America only two years before this revival began, and that the Revival Alliance was formed so recently as well. God T.V. Seems to have prepared the way for and helped to launch this revival, and the Alliance was formed just in time to face the controversy that has arose surrounding Todd Bentley. I myself do not agree with many of the things that Bentley has done in this revival, but it is called a “healing outpouring,” and Todd is certainly anointed for healing. And since all the accusations that were brought against men like A.A. Allen in the last Healing Movement, I believe the Church is in need of another revival with this focus.

To read more about the commissioning of Todd Bentley, there is a great article about it on Charisma Online. You can view it at http://charismamag.com/cms/news/archives/0624082.php.

JUNE 2008
Holy Spirit Outbreak at Heritage

Recently at Morningstar Fellowship, in Fort Mill, North Carolina, there has been a powerful outpouring of the Holy Spirit. After a couple of students in Morningstar's Christian school visited the Florida Healing Outpouring in Lakeland, they started testifying in class about what they had witnessed. Rick Joyner, the pastor at Morningstar, says that "something like a whirlwind" then came into the room. Soon everyone in the school was worshiping God, and the meetings were moved to the Heritage building that was originally built by Jim Bakker in the 1980s. Joyner was not quick to call these meetings a full-fledged "revival," but since they have been going on for more than five weeks, he is now more open to the idea that they may be.
I have watched several videos of the Heritage Outbreak on YouTube, and I can now say I know what Rick meant when he said that "something like a whirlwind" had come. The manifestations of the Holy Ghost in these meetings are so unique, I am not sure that I have ever seen anything like them before. If you have watched a Morningstar service on Christian T.V, I would have to describe this as if God has ignited the worship style usually held by the people in this Church, and given them a whole new anointing to lavish in His glory. It truly makes me hungry for more of the Lord.
To learn more about the Heritage Outbreak, or to watch videos of its first two weeks, check out http://www.morningstarministries.org/Group/Group.aspx?ID=1000029627.  Evangelicals Accept Apostles and Prophets

The Leadership Journal, produced by the makers of the evangelical Christianity Today, recently published several articles promoting the acceptance of apostles and prophets in leadership. Though they did not condone the use of the gifts of the Spirit, these articles did establish a need for the "five-fold ministry" of Ephesians 4:11 in modern society. Among the duties prescribed to apostles in these articles were strategizing for church planting and finding innovative ways to spread a church's influence in a region. Prophets were said to deal with issues of social justice, as well as challenging the culture built within a church.
I have been praying lately that the Lord would cause Christians of every background to accept the office of the prophet, even if they do not allow prophets to function fully in their giftings. It seems as though the Father is answering this prayer, and I believe it will help bring great unity within Christendom. As the terms "prophet" and "apostle" begin to lose their stigmas, relationships can become closer between sects, and people will be able to become better informed on these ministries. This is a great development to see occurring.

MAY 2008
The Florida Healing Outpouring

Thousands of worshipers have been gathering daily at the Lakeland Convention Center in Florida, hoping to receive a powerful touch from God. With meetings hosted by Canadian revivalist Todd Bentley, the healing revival that was scheduled to last only four days has been extended to five weeks so far, and is expected to continue. The God Channel on Direct TV has been broadcasting these meetings, and canceled all other programming during the event to continue showing it. Reports abound of people being saved, filled with the Spirit, and healed. This is all said to be the result of an encounter Todd claims he received from an angel on April 3, who came to release revival in the area.
Notable traits of the "Florida Healing Outpouring," as some have been calling this, include an almost unending flow of words of knowlege from Todd (with testimonies following), and a release of wild shaking, twitching, and vibrations in the bodies of those attending. Thousands of people have been watching the revival on the Internet, and receiving healing miracles from within their homes. The original church in which this revival was being hosted had two over-flow rooms packed out, and people watching outside the building on a screen. The meetings have moved from there to another church, to the current site that can host over 8,000 people. On Friday, May 2 they will begin being held at the Tiger's Stadium.
Prophetess Cindy Jacobs explained earlier this year that things would begin to "come full circle" in 2008, because the number eight signifies completion. This outpouring of revival is taking place in Lakeland, the city in which the Laughing Revival originally broke out at in the 1990's. Rodney' Howard-Brown led these meetings, and it was under his ministry that Randy Clark later received the anointing and brought it to Canada. In Canada, Todd Bentely became filled with the Spirit, and now Todd has come to Lakeland. The anointing seems to have returned with him! I believe, along with John Arnott of the Toronto Revival, that this is just the beginning of a second wave of blessings to spread across North America and the globe!
I cannot begin to tell of the awesome stories coming from this outpouring, but visit the following website to read more: http://www.freshfire.ca/index.php?Id=1000&pid=8

  Educating on Exorcism

The 700 Club made a recent report on the growing number of Satanic cults in Italy, as well as the increasing amount of Catholic exorcists rising to counter them. According to the piece shown on The Club, "There are an estimated 800 satanic cults operating in the country, with more than 600,000 followers." But last year the Vatican began instructing its bishops in the ministry of deliverance, and one minister has already trained at least 300 people to cast out demons. Also worthy of note is that some Italian policeman have been sitting in on exorcism courses, seeking to learn the spiritual dynamics of the issues they deal with when handling occult activity.
I am excited to hear that the Roman Church has put a renewed emphasis on the ministry of deliverance, and that the Holy Spirit is moving supernaturally through their work. Let us pray that the Catholics continue to learn the art of spiritual warfare, and that they become more effective in carrying it out. And let us ask God that the rise of Satanism in Italy would come to an end, and that the Body of Christ would gain a greater stronghold in that nation.

 Double Days of Prayer

It's that time of year again, when millions of Christians across the nations gather to pray and seek God's will for our planet. First, on May 1, Americans will observe the 57th annual National Day of Prayer. Then on May 11 believers from around the world will be celebrating the Global Day of Prayer, in honor of Pentecost Sunday. To learn about these prayer initiatives, visit their websites, at http://ndptf.org (for the National Day of Prayer) and http://gdop.org/ (for the Global Day of Prayer). The Global Day of Prayer website also has information on a follow-up initiative in Dallas, Texas, known as 90 Days of Blessing.

Revival Hits in Jena

In gatherings like The Call, at 24/7 houses of prayer, and throughout congregations all over America, God's people have been asking for revival to come to this nation. Finally it seems to have arrived. In the little town of Jena, Louisiana the Holy Spirit has been moving in a powerful way drawing the entire community to a deeper level of spiritual devotion. Starting with what was meant to be a four-day service in a little Baptist church, this revival was still continuing four weeks later as of March 14. It is marked by town leaders giving their hearts to the Lord, a nearly continuous stream of people testifying of how God is changing their lives, and great reconciliation between people's families, churches, and different races.
When the meetings began on February 17 they were held in Midway Baptist Church. They then moved to a larger church and have since come to the town's high school gymnasium, the only place that has been large enough so far to seat all the attendants. Jena is a town that received a great deal of attention from the media last September, when there was a controversy over the treatment of six black students at the high school. Many see it as significant that the Lord would chose this city to receive an outpouring of revival.
Praise God for the wonderful way He is moving in Jena, very similarly to how He touched people in the Asbury Revival of 1970. Once again the evangelical church is experiencing a holiness renewal, like we did not only in 1970, but during the Great Awakenings throughout American history. Let us pray that this revival spreads like a wildfire across our nation, and also that all of our brothers would be blessed with a Charismatic renewal to deepen their understanding of revival. We are all in need of repentance, reconciliation, and to see souls saved, but also to see the Holy Spirit move beyond the realm of human decisions.

Coptic Priest Reaches Millions for Christ

Zakaria Botros, a Coptic priest based in Egypt, is often seen on a television program on the Life TV  channel in the Middle East. He hosts the show, using it as an outlet to reveal the truth about Islam to an audience of mostly practicing Muslims. Starting with the Quran and other revered Muslim writings, Botros exposes the contradictions and illogical concepts promoted within the Islamic religion. Then he challenges Islamic leaders to respond to his statements with a well-reasoned argument. At the end of the program Botros offers his audience a chance to give their lives to Christ, and shares some pertinent Scripture with them. His work is attributed with bringing a great deal of the six million former Muslims to Christ that have converted.
I think it is important here in the American church that we stay informed on how God is moving in the Middle East, as well as around the world. We need to be connected with and aware of what our brothers in faith are going through in other naitons. Thank God for this Coptic evangelist that we rarely hear of in the Western world, and let us pray that more men like him are raised up to bring in a harvest of souls from those currently following Islam.

Christians and Jews to Unite at U.N.

Several well known Christian leaders will meet with representatives of the (unsaved) Jewish community this May to honor the anniversary of Israel at the United Nations headquarters. Among the Christians leaders will be John Hagee (televangelist and founder of the Christians United for Israel), Lou Engle (founder of The Call prayer ministry), Jay Sekulo (of the American Center for Law and Justice), and Michael Little (president of the Christian Broadcasting Network). These, along with other prominent speakers, will convene to express their solidarity with the Jewish people, and a desire for God's peace to come between all nations.
It is very excitting to be able to celebrate 60 years of the Jews having their own country, and especially to be able to do so with people representing our Christian faith. Let us pray that the nations of the world continue to recognize Israel's nationhood in a positive light, and that our love for them in the evangelical community will continue to be seen as strong.

MARCH 2008

Apostolic Networks to Unite Under Dutch Sheets

At a conference aired on GOD T.V. at the beginning of last Februaury Apostle Dutch Sheets announced the plans being made to establish a nation-wide apostalic network in the United States. Organized by Sheets and other prominent leaders in the Prophetic Movement, including Apostle Charles Peter Wagner and Prophet Churck Pierce, this network will unite dozens of other, smaller networks that are already operating. The hope is that networks containing churches spread out over many states will now be connected with other churches that are closer to them, in order to help one another bring transformation to society on a more local level. The first national conference for this new U.S. Apostalic Alliance will be held on March 24-26, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
It is my opinion that this apostalic alliance will be nothing less than a new denomination, one which simply provides greater autonomy to its congregations than older denominations. I do not view that as a negative reality, and in fact I think this alliance will provide a new "wineskin" to carry the Prophetic Movement futher in its advancement. I simply see it as necessary for people in apostalic networks to recognize their similarity with denominational worshippers, and to acknowlege that God blesses unity in all types of wineskins.

May Gatherings to Converge in Israel

The Call Jerusalem, the Global Day of Prayer, and the GOD TV Israel Tour are all coming together this May in Jerusalem, Israel. On May 14 GOD TV's tour will celebrate the anniversary of Israel achieving its independence. Before this the tour will join the other ministries to hold an international prayer meeting on May 11. The event will be broadcasted to over 200 nations, including viewers here in the U.S. via DirectTV. The meetining was purposefully scheduled to fall on Pentecost Sunday, which also happens to coincide with Mother's Day.
The union of the Call, the Global Day of Prayer, and GOD TV's tour is a very significant event, considering how it indicates a growing level of mobilization and organization within the universal Church. The fact that these events are being held together in Israel this spring also reflects that the heart of Christians around the world are being turned towards their spiritual roots within the Jewish community. One could say as well that the fact this prayer meeting is being held on Mother's Day, in Jerusalem, is a sign from God reminding us all to remember that "the Jerusalem above is free; she is our mother," (Galatians 4:27). It is from the city in Heaven that God "has raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus," (Ephesiains 2:6).

Catholic Church Suffering Losses

Recent reports have been showing a major decline of membership size within the Roman Catholic Church, specifically throughout Latin America. Once considered the most Catholic continent in the world, South America is increasingly becoming dominated by Pentecostal and Charismatic worshippers. Europe has experienced a similar dilemma with its decrease in the number of priests Catholics have had to serve there. This past February Pope Benedict XVI went on a 5 day trip to Latin America to encourage Catholics there in their evangelistic efforts, and to affirm their belief in being the only denomination having the full means of salvation. This was seen by many within Protestantism and outside of the Church as being a direct attempt to deal with issues related to Rome's decrease in influence over the region.
While I rejoice over the growth of Protestant churches throughout the nations, I am very concerned about two things related to the drop in Catholic's numbers. First is that many who leave the Catholic Church do not join other churches, either because they join a false religion or pursue no religion at all. Second, I do not want to see Catholics in those countries or here in the United States to begin distancing themselves from fellow believers who do not report to the Vatican. Let us pray that God heals the relationship between Catholics and Protestants universally, and also that He continues to use the Roman Church to gain converts from amongst the lost all around the globe. Also, let us ask that God would use this decline in Catholic mass attendance to wake up leaders within that denomination and cause them to undergo another reformation like they did with the Counter Reformation, the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, and the Vatican II Council.

Baptists Granted Legal Status in Vietnam

Vietnam, known for being a hostile environment for many missionaries, has recently granted a Christian confederation legal operating status. Grace Baptist Southern General Confederation, the product of missions work accomplished by the Southern Baptist Convention, was given a certificate of religious freedom by the government this month. Christians associated with this ministry may now have less opposition from their neighbors and officials while serving the Lord in their country.
Let us rejoice for this breakthrough for our brothers, and pray that it be a sign of greater things to come. It has been said that more Christians have been martyred in the last century than there have been killed for two thousand years, so we need to keep pressing in for complete deliverance for our fellow believers. Hebrews 13:3 exhorts us, "Remember those in prison as if you were in prison with them. Remember those who are mistreated as if you were being mistreated." We must take these words to heart and live as if we care for our family in Christ as much as we do for ourselves.

Religious Leaders Being Replaced

A change in leadership has or soon will come to several Christian or pseudo-Christian groups. The Jesuits order of the Catholic Church recently elected a new superior general, the Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Church just passed away due to cancer, and the Mormon church president Gordon Hinckley has recently been laid to rest as well. Adolfo Nicolas was selected to lead the Jesuits on January 19. The Orthodox Archbishop Christodoulos, who is credited with helping to bring unity between his church and the Vatican, went to be with the Lord on January 29. Gordon Hinkley died on January 28 as well. The future leadership for both the Greek Orthodox and Mormon churches is uncertain, yet many are predicting that apostle Thomas Monson will become the President of the Mormon church.
Let all of us in the Body of Christ pray that God's choices will be placed in these two open positions of leadership, and that the heads of all these groups will walk in wisdom to fulfill the calling God has for them. I believe the Holy Spirit wants to use these leaders to build more bridges of unity within the Church, and that God may be able to use the new Mormon president to usher that organization into the mainstream of orthodox Christianity. Ask God to use these leaders to change the policies of their churches as needed, and to lead their followers into greater revelation and reformation.

Christians Taking Faith to the Extreme

The Denver Post ran an article last month titled "X Games competitors ride with Jesus." It seems as though a great deal of extreme athletes are giving their lives to Christ. Kelly Clark, for instance, who won a gold medal in the halfpipe from the 2002 Winter Olympics, is one prominent convert. Other names include Tommy Czeschin, Andy Finch, and Janna Meyen. These athletes are noted for proclaiming their faith and skipping out on wild parties when they are invited. According to the Post, traditional Christians are the most outspoken religious people within the business.
It seems to me that Christians have gained a great level of dominance in the realm of extreme sports, as well as within sports in general. Sportsmen are raising their voices for Jesus, and striving to be Godly role models for their fans. It is encouraging to see how God is moving in this arena. Let us pray that His kingdom comes to other entertainment industries as well.

Americans Giving More Than Ever

The United States hit a record high in charitable giving during 2006, according to a USINFO report. More than $295 billion dollars were donated to charities. 83.3 percent of this money came from individuals, not corporations, and the largest category of donations was that given to religious organizations. Though Americans gave a great deal of finances to the victims of the natural disasters experienced around the globe in 2005, our giving still exceeded 2005's in 2006.
I believe we can trust God to continue blessing America's economy in the future, for His Word promises we shall reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7). It reads in Luke 6:37, "Give, and it will be given to you. They will pour into your lap a good measure-- pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return," (NASB). America has been generous with her money, and God will be faithful to generously reward us. In fact, with all the record highs our economy has had in the past few years, I would say He already has! And He will continue to do so if we continue to share our abundance with the less fortunate in our own land and around the world.

Abortions at Lowest Number Since Legalized

As shown in the most recent survey completed by the Center for Disease Control there were fewer abortions being performed in 2004 than have been done since abortion was made legal in 1974. There has been a gradual decline in abortion procedures in the United States since 1996. Due to the fact that health agencies do not always report every abortion carried out in their facilities, especially when the abortions are illegally performed, there may be some inaccuracy in this report. The United States still has a higher number of reported abortions than Canada and Western Europe.
God is opening the eyes of Americans to see that abortion truly is murder, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for clinics to perform abortions. We as Christians need to continue to pray for the end of this practice in our nation, and work to see our counrty completely repented of this great sin. Thank God for all the progress we have made in the Pro-life Movement. But we still have much to do.
To read the Christian Post's more in-depth report on this recent survey, visit http://www.christianpost.com/article/20071126/30222_U.S._Abortion_Total_Hits_Lowest_Mark_Since_Year_After_Roe_v._Wade.htm.

Christian Converts Still Outnumbering Islam's

Though Islam has been growing at a faster rate than Christianity, the Church seems to still be making more converts on an annual basis than Muslims have been. In one survey several reasons were noted by converts to Christianity from within Islam for why they changed their beliefs. These include that Christians seemed more loving, Christians were less violent, and Christians gave more respect and honor to women than Muslims did. Also, supernatural dreams and visions played a significant factor in the amount of conversions, having been given to Muslims around the world to show them that Christ is God.
It is wonderful the way God is giving us a harvest of souls around the nations, especially in Middle Eastern countries such as Iran. It is great how He has been revealing Himself not only through human laborers, but also through prophetic revelations. But we must become more efficient and effective at spreading God's kingdom if we want to remain the largest religion on the planet. God as called us to be fruitful and "multiply," not just to add people to our numbers (Genesis 1:22). We must increase the rate of our growth if we desire Christ to have more disciples than any antichrist system has.

Mike Huckabee Gaining Support for Republican Nomination

According to a recent CBN News report, the latest AP Poll shows that Mike Huckabee is behind Mitt Romeny by only six percentage points in Iowa. "And as [Huckabee's] poll numbers increase," said the CBN article, "so [do] his financial contributions. His campaign recently had to hire extra staff to handle all the support calls and mail they have received." The article also noted that Huckabee has recently received the endorements of two public figures, Rev. Donald Wildman (founder and chairman of the American Family Association) and actor Chuck Norris. Commenting on the common lack of faith in the possibility of his win, Huckabee is quoted as saying, "For people of faith, the easiest thing to understand is when God is in it, a little is much. That Christians would ever have any other criteria - that believers would call themselves believers and say they accept the supernatural and except the extraordinary, and then say when it comes to politics, it's just strictly old conventional politics and business as usual. Not for me."
I believe that we as God's people in America need to stand in faith for a Christian president. It doesn't matter who has the most money or the best results in the polls. We should trust God that just like He did in the last two elections, He will do miracle again. Elijah saw a cloud the size of a man's hand, and predicted a rainstorm was coming (1 Kings 18:44). We should take this positive report of Huckabee's growing support and gain assurance of his success.

"Messiah" Fantasy Novel Hits Bookstores

Based on the Biblical account of Satan's life, the second book in the series of "The Chronicles of Brothers" was released in bookstores around the world this past November. The series details the lives of three angelic brothers, Lucifer, Michael, and Gabriel, portraying an epic and emotional story of mankind's past, present, and future. While depicting the activities being played out in a intricately developed spiritual realm, the novels reveal God's endless love for His fallen creation, and His plan to conquer a renegade angel. The first book, "The Fall of Lucifer," received rave reviews from both secular and Christian writers alike. This new chapter in the series has been released to the secular market at Borders, Barnes and Noble, and on Amazon.com.
I found the first book to be an entertaining read, and very well written for the author's first work of fiction. After hearing some of the responses to this new book as presented on God TV, I believe it has the potential to become a great influence on people who do not know God to come to salvation. It could be a great source of inspiration and enlightenment for Christians, as well. I believe God wants to use His people more in creative ways like this to bring the message of His kingdom to both the lost and saved, so let us support such efforts by going out an buying such books from the popular bookstores.

Praying for Hollywood

With about 5,000 intercessors in its ranks, the Hollywood Prayer Network has been getting some attention in the media lately for raising up concern for the souls of celebrities. The organization is dedicated to praying for the salvation, safety, and success of famous entertainers, asking God to change and use people like Britney Spears for His glory. Critics of the organization say that there are more important things to pray for than the people in Hollywood. Nevertheless, the prayer ministry continues and has been featured on CNN's Showbiz Tonight, CBN's The 700 Club, and in newspapers such as The Washington Post.
I do not think one has to be vain to spend time and energy crying out to God on behalf of struggling people in any profession. It is always good to pray for others, and to seek God's will for their lives. Plus, the entertainment business is a very effective tool Christians can use to influence other people with. We should be praying for there to be more believers working in it.

Pro-Life Movie Wins Canadian People's Choice Award

Eduardo Verastegui, called by some "Latin America's Brad Pitt," played the lead role in this new pro-Life drama. The film recently won the People's Choice Award at Toronto's International Film Festival, and according to Verastegui, several abortions have been cancelled after pregnant mothers viewed it. The movie is now being shown in select theaters around the United States, and if it makes enough money it could be distributed more widely. Visit http://www.bellathemovie.com to learn more about this production.
God's people have been working for a long time to see the end of abortion, and this movie may be a sign that the pro-Life movement is gaining influence. Just like William Wilberforce fought for 30 years to have slavery ended in the Bristish Empire, we must be dedicated to fighting abortionism. And, as Eduardo Verastegui is doing, we must be willing use every forum we can to teach people about this issue from a Christian standpoint. It took the ancient Israelites years to conqueor the land of Canaan, and if we want to see America conqueored for Christ we must be faithful to keep taking a stand for life.

Glenn Beck Interviews Mike Huckabee

Glenn Beck, the host of a television program on CNN Headline News, recently interviewed presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. Huckabee, a former Baptist pastor and former governor of Arkansas, is running for the Republican Party's nomination. The interview covered Huckabee's views on many issues, ranging from how to deal with illegal immigrants to the role of faith in politics.
Beck, a devout conservative, said to Huckabee, "I was hoping I could write you off as a candidate after this hour, and I can`t." Beck also encouraged Huckabee, telling him, "You`re a real genuine guy, and I believe you believe the things that you are saying." To view a transcript of the interview, visit http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0710/19/gb.01.html.
I personally believe that Mike Huckabee is the right choice for the presidency. He radiates with the Holy Spirit, and is the most conservative candidate I know of. After a recent debate in Orlando, Florida, he was voted as the second most conservative candidate in a straw poll. Mitt Romney was the number one choice, but he may not have been if he did not have supporters that weren't at the debate who voted via the Web. With Sam Brownback having just dropped out of the race, Huckabee is clearly the most devout Christian running, and he has already achieved the support of Charisma Magazine's editor Stephen Strang. I encourage you to learn more about Huckabee's views by visiting his Web site, http://mikehuckabee.com/.

Wendy Alec Prophesies Concerning California

Co-founder of GOD TV, Wendy Alec, has recently delivered a prophetic word concerning the West Coast of America. In the message, Wendy prophesied, "even as the wildfires that blazed across California that could not be contained – that blazed with a ferocious fire – so I [God] am in this day and in this season preparing to pour out from Heaven the ferocious fire of My Spirit across the West Coast of America." The word went on to say that the "Church shall blaze with the fierceness of its rising – and the fear – yes the FEAR, the fear of the Living God – the fear of the Lord of Hosts shall fall – and it shall fall upon [God's] church." Also, Wendy prophesied that "a shaking" was coming to San Fransisco to judge the city and "bring it to it's knees." God's people were promised that they would be spared in this disaster.
In many ways this word has been confirmed by other prophets, such as Kim Clement and Cindy Jacobs. It even agrees with some of my own prophesies in which God spoke that there was coming a new holiness movement, where the fear of the Lord will fall upon many. We must pray that this revival truly does come, for America is in great need of an awakening. And California is certainly a place of deepest need. Also, let us pray for mercy for San Fransisco, as Abraham prayed for God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah.

OCTOBER 2007

More Fathers of the Faith Departed

An unusual number of Christian leaders have died within this year. Such fathers of the Faith include Jerry Falwell (founder of the Moral Majority), Dr. James Kennedy (pastor of the Crystal Cathedral), Ruth Graham (author and speaker), Tammy Faye Messner (co-founder of the Praise the Lord television program), Oretha Hagin (wife of faith-teacher Kenneth Hagin), Rex Hummbard (first nation-wide televangelist), David E. Schoch (prophet of the Latter Rain Movement), Zola Levit (Messianic Movement leader), Herald Bredeson (leader in the Charismatic Renewal), George Otis (founder of Middle East Television), G.E. Patterson (bishop of Church of God in Christ) and Cecil B. Knight (former Church of God overseer). Others have died as well, but there would not be room to honor them.
I believe that the passing of these great saints is a prophetic sign of the season the Church is now in. Many prophets have declared that like the ancient Israelites, God's children are now "crossing over" into their Promised Land. In the Israelites case, the people could not cross over until the older generation died in the wilderness. Likewise, many patriarchs of Christendom are leaving us so a new generation of leaders can arise and begin to conquer.

Second "Day of Healing" Held This Year

This September 22 marked the first celebration the Worldwide Day of Healing, an expansion of last year's efforts with the National Day of Healing. Led by healing evangelists Charles and Francis Hunter, thousands of congregations from around the globe participated in this annual event promoting supernatural healing. Each church was encouraged to hold special healing services and advertise for them to the pubic. There were so many positive results reported from last year's event that the Hunter's have published a 100 page book called, "What's New? The Historic First National Day of Healing," which records many of the testimonies. Among Christian leaders who've participated in these observances were Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn, Marilyn Hickey, and the Daystar Television Network.
Again it seems that God's people are becoming more proactive about spreading the Kingdom of Heaven. The saints are stepping out in faith to operate in the supernatural power of God, and to share the truth of God's Word with all who will listen. Evangelist Todd Bently has prophesied a coming healing revival in which "100 healing pools [or revival center churches]" will be established in the earth. It seems the anointing for this revival is being ciphered out of Heaven even now.

See You At The Pole Event Focuses on Unity

Last year over two million teenagers reportedly participated in the annual youth-focused prayer event, "See You At The Pole." This year the event was held on the 26th of September, at campus flagpoles around the world. This year's theme for the event was “Gather, unite, pray, [and] come together,” and the Scriptural basis for this theme was John 17:20-23. In this passage, Jesus prays for His followers, asking "that all of them may be one... [and that] they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that the You sent Me and have loved them even as you have loved Me." See You At The Pole is held on the fourth Wednesday of each September.
I believe the theme of this year is prophetically significant because it focuses on unity. If the Church is in a season of "crossing over," then one of our major obstacles to overcome before we begin to "possess the land" will be walking in oneness together. We as God's people cannot confront the evils of society until we are all fighting together, and our unity will not result until we truly labor in prayer for our relationships with one another. With millions of teenagers petitioning God for such a union, it is bound to happen.

Jacobs Organizes A New Holiness Movement

Prophetess Cindy Jacobs, who is known in over 200 nations for the accurate messages she has given from God, is organizing a modern-day holiness movement called "Light the Highway." The focus of the project is to unite Christians together in a vision for revival, specifically around Interstate 35 in the United States of America. This is the highway Jacob's ministry headquarters is located on, and she believes that God wants to establish it as a "highway of holiness," according to Isaiah 35 ("I-35"). She is organizing people all along this highway to hold 24/7 prayer efforts, evangelistic outreaches, and protests against the immorality committed in cities that line it.
As I have touched on before, I believe that the story of the Israelites' journey from Egypt to Canaan is a prophetic picture of the history of the Church. The Church has just experienced it's "camping at Mount Sinai" with the Charismatic Movement, where great expressions of God's power were shown to the people for a whole generation. Now, it is time for the prophets of God to rise up like Joshua and declare, "Let us go in and take the land!" But as we do, we will need to take a stop at "Gilgal" like the Jews did, and "circumcise" our hearts. It is time for a new holiness movement to start, because the youth of this nation and the world must be set apart as holy before they start aggressively taking influence in the world.

"Great Awakening" Brings Massive American Harvest

The Great Awakening Tour, featuring the ministry of Rodney Howard-Brown, has already gone to 14 of the 40 states it plans to reach. As of August 30, 2007, the soul winning campaigns that have accompanied this tour have resulted in over 180,000 salvations. The largest campaign occurred in Texas, in which over 50,000 souls were saved in matter of days as believers went out on the streets carrying the message of repentance. The focus of the tour itself is to inspire believers to share about Jesus with others, specifically using a witnessing script to read to unbelievers.
I personally attended the Great Awakening St. Louis, and I have to say that the Holy Spirit is definitely doing a new thing through Rodney Howard-Brown. When this revivalist came through Saint Louis in 1994 and 1995, he carried with him a great anointing for laughing revival, in which Christians receive a supernatural impartation of joy. Though there was much "holy laughter," as it is called, in these new meetings, they were much more focused on getting believers motivated to fulfill the Great Commission (Mark 16:14-18). I believe the revival of the 90's was to fill Christians with the joy of the Lord, which the Bible says is our strength, so that we could partake in this current Prophetic Movement in which we strive to bring our societies under God's dominion.

Christians Gaining Influence in the Film Industry

It has often been said that "The Passion of the Christ" woke Hollywood up to to making films for a whole new target audience: devout Christians. And it seems that this is truly the case. Consider some recent hits such as "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," "Amazing Grace," and "The Nativity Story." There are also several lesser known, but high-quality recent releases like ""The End of the Spear," "Facing the Giants," "One Night With the King," and "The Ultimate Gift." And more films are still to come, including two based of C.S. Lewis novels: "Prince Caspian" and "The Screwtape Letters."
I wouldn't say that this is all merely resulting from Hollywood's awakening, but to the Church's realization that the film industry is powerful way to influence culture. God's people are responding to the Biblical call to "go into all the world," which includes every sphere of influence in our society. The Lord is raising up a people who want to see His "Kingdom come, on earth as it is in Heaven," and that means producing movies that promote the values of Heaven's culture. This is how we are going to see our nations changed: by going in and representing Jesus in all sectors of society.

July Prayer Events Draw Thousands

This July several ministries and ministry networks scheduled massive prayer meetings, most taking place on July 7. The date, 07/07/07, was chosen for it's prophetic significance, with seven being recognized as a number symbolic of perfection in the Bible. The Call Nashville, a youth-focused prayer event that took place in "the music capital of the world," was just one of these prayer gatherings that happened in America. It gathered approximately 55,000 attendants, and focused on praying for the end of abortion and the beginning of a sexual-purity movement. Another major rally took place in New York City on July 8, which featured a multi-cultural array of prayer leaders, including the United Nations Christian Culture Society.
I was personally privileged to attend the Call, and I have to say it was truly life-changing. Never before had I witnessed so many devout, Spirit-filled young people come together to pray, fast, and worship God with all their hearts. It was very encouraging and exciting.
One of the Holy Spirit's main emphasis was on our praying for the end of sexual perversion in the American church. As I prayed in tongues, I felt the Holy Spirit was speaking directly to demonic spirits and commanding them to come off God's people. God's presence was very tangible, and I believe this is one of His greatest concerns for American Christians.

More Sacred Assemblies To Come

In the Christian church there have been several major gatherings in the past two years, including events that marked the anniversary of the Azusa Street Revival (1906), the pilgrims' dedication of America to God (1607), the founding of the Jesus Movement (1967), and the revivals that came to England and Korea in 1907. More gatherings are soon to come, including: the Legends Festival in Colorado, which will feature musical artists from the 1960's Jesus Movement; several new Calls, including one in Las Vegas, Berkeley, and Washington D.C.; the Pray New York gathering which will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Layman's Prayer Revival; and the Heaven's Rehearsal mulit-cultural worship event that is coming to Toronto, Canada.
I percieve there are several prophetic reasons for these events to be taking place now, and at the frequency that they are:
  1. "God is calling His people to massive, united fasting and prayer," as Lou Engle (the founder of the Call) says. (See Joel 2:15-17)
  2. God is calling His people to re-dig wells, and draw up the waters of revival that have been buried in the past. (See Genesis 26:18)

The Lord wants to re-release a Jesus Movement, a Prayer Movement, a fresh revival like those of 1906 and 1907, and He wants America to renew her dedication to Him as our forefathers did in 1607. He wants to bring us to the "old paths," as Jeremiah 6:16 says, and "turn the hearts of the fathers [the older generation] to their children [the younger generation], and the hearts of the children to their fathers," (Malachi 4:6). He wants to bring a Third Great Awakening to America, which will involve every generation and touch every area of society.

Revival Comes to the United Nations

On June 13th of this year, a prophetic minister named Matt Sorger was able to conduct a "Special Impartation Session" in a conference room of the United Nations. During the service, Sorger gave several words of knowledge for healing, and prayed for the Holy Spirit to touch the hearts of those attending. Many delegates were saved, and after the service some of them fell down outside the conference room under the power of God as they were trying to leave.
I believe God is moving in mighty ways that we might not normally have a chance to observe, and He is working to bring His Kingdom on Earth. He is answering the prayers of His people, bringing awakening to America and the world. There is nowhere that He cannot touch, and as His people go out into every area of society, "the gates of Hell shall not prevail against them," (Matthew 16:18).
